We're working on modularity for the live-cd, and it would be great to let people customize their own by selecting which modules to download and build into their own CD. This will, of course, be a program that will download the selected modules, make them into a .iso image, and allow other customizations.

Python
I plan on using python for its early development. Py2EXE will provide a functional executable for windows users. I have some old code but I'm going to start from scratch.
Mkisofs
Will it require external binaries to create the .iso image?

Until we get this program started and available, here is a skeletal document that explains how to modify the .iso file manually:
