I have played with it, its the most stable NTFS writing in linux. It's easily implemented with scripts or the FUSE system. I've played with FUSE on my system. It's pretty neat but I doubt Backpack can spare the space. Not to mention most of its features would go unused on a livecd.
There is also a DVD version, and I can't tell you how many times it would have been nice to have real NTFS access while working on Windows machines from a live-cd. With the inclusion of FUSE, we should probably include sshfs too.
