if gimp is no longer on the CD 0.4 why is gimp print still included, does it include drivers not available with hpijs+cups?
Rhythmbox < MOC
Evolution-Data-Server?? why?
Ethereal ? Hasn't it been replaced by wireshark? Is their rhyme to your reason? :-p
MySQL package is kinda old :-p not important just maybe a new package is in order
Elvis
Joe
Bittorrent vs. rTorrent
and finally.....
Anjunta

I'm about to build the new version with your build scripts, and maybe tinker a little bit with them before I go to class ;-) I especially enjoy your comment about magic existing below the line in the build script.

That's a few items

* Gimp-print -- The package does indeed include other printer drivers... perhaps it is something to look into more thoroughly though?
* MOC -- Yes, I like it better too.
* Evolution-data-server -- is required by the Gnome clock applet (pretty sure anyway).
* Ethereal -- has been replaced by Wireshark in the current version of the build scripts.
* MySQL -- is probably old because it was the version released with Slackware 10.2. The build scripts also grab the updated Slackware packages now instead of using just the originally released version (for security fixes).
* Elvis -- I prefer Vim
* Joe -- Never cared much for it (sorry), but I think it is a part of the developer module anyway.
* Bittorrent -- Am open to suggestions/replacements as long as there aren't many dependencies
* Anjuta -- needs updating :)

I wasnt ...

There weren't suggestions, I was thinking that all these packages could be removed. I don't use Elvis or Joe at all. Although you always say, "It's not that much space", every little bit counts especially for just the CD version. The MySQL could be kept or removed depending on if application or development needs it. Maybe there should be a web dev. version with just a few of the packages changed. That way java could be taken off the main version along with PHP MySQL and whatever else. Just an idea, looking at your build scripts and the text files, it shouldn't be hard to start making different versions. Its just the extended build time of building/testing another CD. I'm not that familiar with git, but looking at the way everything works it shouldn't be hard to get a cd builder done in the next week when I have some extra time to really spend on it. Grab the files from git, and start adding more *.so modules for extending the cd to start. Perhaps even building a system to make the creation of modules easier for the end user.

Java...

Java isn't included on the CD right now. Instead gcc-java is bundled so that Java code can be compiled into binaries. If you want the JRE, it has its own module and is on the DVD. That's about 80 MB if I remember correctly :)

Joe and elvis probably should be moved to other modules not on the CD.
