Hey guys, a new website is being set up, and direct access is becoming the main way to download the Backpack .iso images. Better bandwidth is the way to go!
However there are some administrative issues to work out. I think you need to figure out how to disable blogs for roles that aren't admin or developer or whatever. I think the default role for new users are "developer" now I don't know what permissions you set up because I haven't played with what I can do yet but anyways, talk to you later I'm going to mess with my Drupal config some more now.
Thinking about it I'm not sure if it matters its just do you want blog entries promoted to front page, instead of just creating a content type for the front page or using the "Front page" module. I was thinking before maybe it'd be better to have a news content type or something rather than using the blog for content to be promoted to the frontpage. I guess it really doesn't matter I was just thinking that having "news" posts show up in a blog would be kind of silly, unless you want to keep it as a developer blog. I dunno I guess it doesn't matter, I could always post news as a blog of my own and promote it to the front page. I'm just being kind of picky, I'm not sure I like the "Daga's Blog" under your posts(or "ghorthas' blog" under mine. Although I'm sure with some prodding we could change its appearance on the front page too. There is a plugin to customize submitted content for blocks and nodes I think. Anyways like I said I guess its not that big of a deal I'm just being picky.
With "blogging", it tells who posted the news on the front page. Also, the -devel RSS feed previously was something of a directed blog with information about what was happening and what I was looking forward to. I just didn't update it very often. The syndicate link at the bottom of the menu should cover as a replacement for that feed fairly well. Beyond that, it should be nice to keep all updates from the previous release available and just clear them with a few clicks when a new release is made (easy enough as it stands now). These are my thoughts and reasonings :)

Permissions
I made you a dev! I do need to test that though... think the permissions are right, but haven't tested yet.
Well...

I might play with the news module later...
